I delivered this custom signet ring to a friend of mine while I was in London last week.
We started the design process by playing around with his initials to create a crest for him. He had the option for the crest to be engraved onto a 9ct gold ring as a surface engraving or a working wax seal. He went for the latter.
We then had to engrave the inverted design onto the ring. This was done by carefully removing gold in the right places. The ring was constantly tested during the process to check that each line was at the correct depth and that the design would come out as required when used as a seal.
Below is one of the test impressions.
